Riding with proper protection just got easier. The Bowtex Elite V2 AAA-rated Dyneema armored shirt delivers never-before-seen protection in an otherwise near-completely under-the-radar, single-layer shirt. Wear it underneath any pedestrian-spec outer-layer, or on its own in hot weather.

Designed to be the most discreet and protective shirt ever made, the Elite base layer is certified for abrasion and impact resistance to the maximum rating CE AAA (75mph).

Tipping the scales at just 1000grams (Americans: that’s just over 2lbs) this super-shirt fits under almost any outer layer, comes with removable shoulder and elbow armor, and can be upgraded with a back protector and/or optional chest protectors.

The entire shirt is cut from a specially formulated Dyneema material developed specifically for Bowtex, the Belgian brand that specializes in an line of EU-made super-powered under-pants and armored shirts. This particular fabric is made in 100% made in Germany, and the final assembly of the shirts is done in Portugal.

Dyneema is a leading brand-name in the manufacturing of UHMWPE fabrics. That’s short for “Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethaene” – which is an engineered superfiber that’s cooler to wear and tougher in a slide than aramid fibers (eg: DuPont Kevlar) the heretofore industry-standard for motorcycle apparel.

The beauty of Dyneema is that Bowtex has coaxed it into a form that’s cooler to wear, all while also offering significantly higher abrasion resistance.

A triple-A certification is good enough for us, but if you want to get more technical, Bowtex has this to say about the material makeup:

"Dyneema offers maximum strength with minimum weight, produced in a patented gel spinning process in which the fibers are drawn, heated, elongated, and cooled. We spin these super strong yarns in a circular knitting machine to create our unique double face Dyneema/polyamide fabric. It’s 15x stronger than steel. As well as its extraordinary strength, Dyneema excels in cut and abrasion resistance and has a high resistance to chemicals and UV."

Fit Note: The Bowtex Elite V2 AAA-Rated Shirt fits true to size. See general outline in the product image carousel, but don't overthink it: pick your regular t-shirt size. Throw whatever jacket you want over it — or none at all — and enjoy the ride.

Fun new start
Format: Kindle
I really enjoyed this first issue. The team's dynamics seem to be getting a lot of focus which I like. And the action jumps out of the page. The character designs will take some getting used to but the art is honestly fantastic. Most enjoyable part to me was the team actually feeling like a team, with lots of small interplays and Cyclops really feeling like the leader he should be. I'm not sure I like Orchis as the villains again but we'll see how it goes.

Great new beginning
Format: Kindle
I didn't really care for the Krakoan era as a whole, and knowing how comics, especially the X-Men, go through cycles every few years, knew it wouldn't last. I'm especially glad to see the somewhat bland logos go and the classic ones return. I like this line up so far, especially the inclusion of the Juggernaut. I remember reading the comics years ago when he first switched sides, and was.disappointed when he went back to being bad. I haven't read the concluding chapters of the Krakoan era yet, so seeing a "classic" version of the Beast is a little surprising since the last time I saw him he had turned into an evil piece of %#@+. The story by Jed MacKay was interesting and entertaining, as I knew it would be. I've always enjoyed Ryan Stegman's art. Looking forward to more of this series and the other X-Men books, especially Uncanny X-Men.

More of the same
Format: Kindle
I haven’t read X-Men comics in years, but decided to dive back in as a supplement to all the Marvel Cinematic buzz. The plot seems like standard X-Men fare. The weakness of the comic medium, particularly for characters like the X-Men, is the holding pattern of the status quo that the characters are constantly suck in. I’m not sure if this series will deliver a clever twist on it yet. The dynamic they are setting up with the downtrodden Sentinel manufacturing town is interesting, as is the implicit aspiration of the X-Men to replenish the land itself. I am enjoying the team composition and the gorgeous art. They decided to crucify Wolverine again and it looked cool as ever. Juggernaut’s costume, too, is incredibly drawn.

This story hits all the right notes for a 1st issue, with new mysteries and new characters. Love the team, with stalwarts like Beast, Wolverine, and Cyclops. Looking forward to more!

Krakoa is gone, but a new era begins!
Format: Kindle
I was pleased to see this was not a reboot but a continuation in the aftermath of the Fall of the House of X. MacKay certainly started off this new run on the right foot, ending with intrigue and introducing potentially new big bads. Excited to throw my money at Marvel in the months to come.
